Drew plays the viola in all the wrong ways, blending conservatory precision with a versatile musical voice. Infecting wide-eyed audiences with colorful groove and improvisation, he brings new life to an often suppressed instrument. His EP, A Blur of Color, features original works that celebrate the beauty and diversity of the American West, while showcasing Drew's clever composition style.
As an international performer, Drew has shared the stage with many revolutionaries including Mark O' Connor, Indigo Girls, and Suzie Collier. He has performed in renowned venues such as Boettcher Hall, Symphony Hall, Macky Auditorium, and Jordan Hall. An experienced session musician, Drew's unique musical voice has been captured in prestigious studios such as Power Station, Millenia, Q Division, AME, Farkosten, Jazztone, and Fame’s Project.
In addition to his solo projects, Drew leads the internationally-recognized folk-fusion band Veradale, whose members are featured on his discography. Drew also plays viola in and composes for the highly-innovative Clarity String Quartet. As a folk sideman, he performs regularly with Americana artist Clare McKeon and other prolific independent musicians.
Drew holds a Bachelor's Degree in Viola Performance from the University of Colorado, and Master's Degrees in Viola Performance and Contemporary Performance and Production from the Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. Drew resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, enriching the local music scene while performing, composing, teaching, and recording across the United States and Europe.
